The long wait is finally over for Total Freight International (TFI), as it has recently commenced operations in Dubai World Central (DWC). This marks a huge milestone in TFI’s history, making it the first entity from Dubai Cargo Village to establish its own facility in DWC and the first UAE-based company to set base in the aerotropolis.
The 5600-square-metre logistics facility will open its doors for operations on the 25th of November 2015. It will primarily be used for general cargo warehousing, distribution, and value-added services, in addition to featuring an office space. A section of the warehouse space within the state-of-the-art facility will specifically be allocated for cargo requiring a temperature-controlled environment.
Designed to be scalable, the facility’s infrastructure has a total storage capacity of 8,400 pallet positions, with the temperature-controlled section featuring an initial capacity of 600 pallet positions. Moreover, the warehouse has a ground storage capacity of 2000 square metres and has a total of 9 loading bays – two of which are light vehicle loading bays, allowing for quick and easy loading and off-loading of cargo.
The facility is currently fitted with 47 CCTV cameras, enabling aisle-to-aisle monitoring of cargo. It is also entirely WiFi-integrated, which provides clients with the benefits of better inventory control and real-time stock visibility.
With close proximity to the Al Maktoum International Airport Cargo Terminal, the facility promotes quick and easy transfer of cargo from the warehouse to the cargo terminal and vice-versa. The introduction of a customs-bonded bridge that connects the seaport to the airport also provides convenience in transferring cargo from the Jebel Ali seaport to the warehouse without paying customs duty.
TFI’s decision to operate in its own facility at Dubai World Central will eventually translate into significant strategic advantages for the company as it targets to consolidate and expand its presence in the regional markets.
